Contemporary 2D Illustration & Reference

A collection of personal work highlighting the fusion of referential and abstract art styles resulting in a contemporary image with nodes of modernism, setting the tone as to how I approach design. Graphic with a studio art conceptuality fitted for an applied commercial setting, the work transcends the usual molds that keep both in their respective spaces. The outcome is studio in its conceptuality while applied in its construction, making it fitting for advertisement design and cover art since its modality is abstract and modern; conceptual, complex yet simplified all at the same time. Complexity with refinement is a contrast that relates to the fusion made possible with balance and accumulation in the scope of two-dimensionality.

Inspired by the latter of ’60s design as it progressed into the 70s, 90’s & today, color, line and shape all have a part to play in each’s playfulness and compositional balance. Packed with individual expression and aesthetic influences, this overall amalgamation further gives way to the flat uniformity in the works and how all the components that make up these pieces reside on a single, cohesive plane of existence, similar to the perceptions of life, the complexities of people, the manifesting of dreams and the mixing pot that is planet Earth. Both imagination and observation, these pieces are a declaration showcasing the ways my work speaks to an audience outwardly while keeping integral an inner more complex spirit.
