Inside & Out Self Portrait Artworks

A collection of self-portraits that visualize an internal landscape on the external figure and surrounding background. By versifying the realm of traditional portraiture, the result allowed for a more authentic expression of the subject matter presented. Fitted with elements pertinent to a dreamscape, the accented images provide context, mood and detail that is representative of the subconscious, lived experiences and a desired aesthetic brought upon by abstraction, color, line quality and composition. Stripes and an ode to gradients are used in each scheme in order to usher in a sense of duality, direction and flow which grounds the works, creating more balance amidst other design elements. Two-dimensional art is used and most capitalized on for its ability to be simply stated. When looking back at a photograph there’s a sense of place that a picture takes you back to, a nostalgia soaked in story & narrative each artwork is meant to convey.
